Our program has a strong emphasis on simulation-based training. We offer a 3-day boot camp every July for incoming and current fellows and faculty alike focusing on procedural skills, clinical cases, and introduction to ECMO. We also conduct a monthly simulation lab that the fellows are required to attend.
Division Lecture Curriculum
The lecture curriculum is a half-day conference that occurs weekly on Thursdays. The conferences include educational lectures with speakers from within the division and invited external speakers, patient care review, journal club, morbidity and mortality, board review, simulation, and a monthly joint case review with pediatric emergency medicine. There is also a quarterly joint case conference with pediatric surgery.
We offer several elective rotations during fellowship. Fellows can opt to do rotations in the SICU (Trauma), NeuroICU or an outside CICU rotation in Orlando, FL at Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital. Fellows also have an opportunity to attend a 3 day ECMO course during their fellowship.
