About Michael A Maymi
Teaching
Dr. Maymi teaches undergraduate and graduate nursing courses. He is the Track Coordinator for the Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner DNP and the Pediatric Dual Track Progams. He provides clinical, classroom, online, and simulation education for his students.
Research
Dr. Maymi’s research interests include providing education through technology using Precision Nursing Education to provide students with customized learning. He is working on developing immersive virtual reality simulation.
Service
Dr. Maymi has been active with the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board since 2011 when he was selected as an item writer for the Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Exam. In 2013 he was selected as a member for the Acute Care Exam Item Writer Committee and served as a member until 2017, when he was selected as the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Board Member At large. As a board member he is a liaison to the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Pediatric Continuing Updates Committee, Acute Care Item Writing Committee, Continuing Competency Task Force, and the 2018 Job Task Analysis Task Force, and the PNP Competency Framework.
Areas of Expertise
Dr. Maymi has been focused on pediatric critical care and cardiac critical care the past 27 years. He has worked as a staff nurse, assistant nurse manager, and APRN in critical care. He started his career in healthcare as a Navy Hospital Corpsman before becoming a nurse.
