Teaching

Dr. Maymi teaches undergraduate and graduate nursing courses. He will be teaching the graduate pediatric nurse practitioner courses with a focus on acute care.

Research

Dr. Maymi’s research interests include providing education through technologies. He has taken the lead on developing mobile applications to educate nursing staff, patients and families.

Service

Dr. Maymi has been active with the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board since 2011 when he was selected as an item writer for the Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Exam. In 2013 he was selected as a member for the Acute Care Exam Item Writer Committee and served as a member until 2017, when he was selected as the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Board Member At large. As a board member he is a liaison to the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Pediatric Continuing Updates Committee, Acute Care Item Writing Committee, Continuing Competency Task Force, and the 2018 Job Task Analysis Task Force.

Areas of Expertise

Dr. Maymi has been focused on pediatric critical care and cardiac critical care the past 21 years. He has worked as a staff nurse, assistant nurse manager, and APRN in critical care. He started his career in healthcare as a Navy Hospital Corpsman prior to becoming a nurse.
